Colorado is a vast western American state covering almost 300,000 square kilometres. It is a hugely diverse landscape consisting of the Rocky Mountains, deep cut river canyons and arid deserts all of which we will be visiting during this new and exciting workshop.
We have chosen this time of year specifically for the change in seasons as the swathes of aspen stands glow a warm yellow beneath the autumn sun and often the Rocky Mountains have their first dusting of snow as the winter season approaches.
This workshop was designed to get away from the busy honey-pot locations so you can experience Colorado in peace and tranquillity. We will leave the towns behind and venture over many of the stunning mountain passes into the wilderness such as the Guanella Pass, Boreas Pass, Red Mountain Pass and the world famous Kelber Pass, all of which hold a wealth of photographic opportunities and breathtakingly beautiful views.
As well as enjoying our time on the many mountain areas, we will take time to photograph the canyons and rivers of this state such as the mighty North Clear Creek Falls and East River Valley to name but two. One of the highlights of this trip will be visiting the outstanding Great Sand Dunes National Park which is in stark contrast to other areas of Colorado. This vast area covers over 600 square kilometres and boasts the tallest dune system in North America and sits amidst a diverse landscape of grasslands, wetlands and aspen forests.
As we pass through many areas on our travels we will experience a contrast of mountain grandeur, deep forest, deserts and old characterful farmsteads from generations past. You will have both Paul Gallagher and Michael Pilkington along with a local guide on hand to make the very best of your time in this amazing landscape. As always, we will be taking time to look at your work during evening sessions and image reviews and of course have fun along the way! Paul and Michael have been photographing landscapes like this for decades so you will be in the very best hands with 1 to 1 tuition always available.
If you have a love of mountain landscapes and true wilderness, then this workshop will not disappoint!
To enable us to truly see sights off the beaten track we will be using 4x4 vehicles for parts of our workshop so numbers will be limited.
