The Isle of Skye is situated off the West Coast of Scotland and is known as the 'Winged Isle' due to its birdlike outline with its various peninsulas radiating out from the Cuillin Hills . This beautiful island, the most northerly of the Inner Hebrides, has a dramatic coastline and some of the most stunning mountain scenery in the UK.
Skye has an incredibly varied landscape, each of its peninsulas have their own character and wonderful photographic locations to visit. The Trotternish peninsula has the other wordly landscapes of the Storr and the Quiraing, Minginish has Talisker Bay, Strathaird has one of the most famous coastal locations in the UK, namely Elgol, with its stunning views of the Cuillin Hills. The Duirinish peninsula has Neist Point with its dramatically situated lighthouse and amazing coastal vistas. Aside from those mentioned above there is also Glen Sligachan, here the Red and Black Cuillin Hills loom large above the River Sligachan and the waterfalls of the Allt Dearg Mor. The Sleat peninsula, though not mountainous in character has some of the best coastal views on the Island and no visit to Skye would be complete without a visit to Glen Brittle to shoot at the Fairy Pools.
We will be visiting as many as possible of the locations mentioned above which will give you a real taste of what Skye has to offer and will also ensure that you shoot a very varied type of subject matter from wide mountains vistas, to dramatic coastal scenery, to abstracts.
You will be spending plenty of time out with your camera where you will get plenty of 1 to 1 tuition with a professional landscape photographer that will include both technical aspects of landscape photography as well as the art of good compositions. During our stay on Skye we will dedicate specific time to teaching post-processing skills to enable you to return home with exhibition quality images that are finished and ready to print.
Please note there will be some hill walking involved and walking over very rough terrain and for this reason a degree of fitness will be needed for this workshop. Please contact us if you have questions regarding this.
