There are few places in the world that can beat the sheer scale and beauty of Yosemite Valley. Aspect2i have been running workshops here in spring time for a while when the waterfalls are in full spate and the spring flowers are out and we have many photographers that have travelled with us that have made some unbelievable photographs. Based on this success we decided that it was time to get out into the valley in the depths of winter.
This workshop in January will see many of the waterfalls frozen and parts of the mighty Merced River frozen. Yosemite Valley is situation 4000ft above sea level in the High Sierra so snow and ice conditions are almost guaranteed with average temperatures at -2 degrees. Often the woodland in the valley is laden with snow and the sunsets are phenomenal.
This workshop will be dedicated to photographing the stunning winter conditions and so Paul and Michael can spend plenty of one to one time with everybody; we have set a limit of four photographers per leader so that you get the best from your time here. The valley is much quieter at this time of year and we will explore some of the most iconic locations made famous in the winter by the father of landscape photography himself, Ansel Adams.
We will visit Tunnel View and Valley View and explore that amazing El Capitan Meadow beneath the towering heights of El Capitan and Cathedral Spires along with Cooks Meadow looking out towards Half Dome. We will visit the base of Bridal Veil Falls and Yosemite Falls and explore Cathedral Beach and Sentinel beach on the edge of the Merced River as well as many other hidden favourites.
You will have Paul Gallagher and Michael Pilkington as your leaders who are both experienced professional landscape photographers. You will be spending plenty of time out with your camera where you will get plenty of 1 to 1 tuition from Paul and Michael that will include both technical aspects of digital landscape photography as well as gaining a good 'eye' for images along the way.
There are many locations that keen landscape photographers choose to go to in pursuit of their passion, but Yosemite National Park in the winter is perhaps the one place most commonly thought to be at the top of the 'Bucket List' If you want to learn from two of the best landscape photographers in the business who know this area well then this is the workshop that will change your photography.
