If you want to get a real taste of the western states of America, this workshop is especially catered for you. We intend to travel through 4 states, visiting some of the most awesome locations along the way.
We fly to Las Vegas, but then head north to the fabulously iconic little town of Beatty. From there we will be able to drive into Death Valley, which is just a mere 40 minutes drive away. Whether you are a monochrome worker, or prefer shooting in colour, locations such as the fabulous Mesquite Dunes, the legendary Zabriske Point or Badwater should satisfy all your photographic ambitions.
Heading north, travelling along Highway 395, we will pass the immensely impressive Sierra Nevada mountains on our left, which even in April should still be topped with snow. Our destination is Mono Lake, one of the most fascinating locations anywhere within the USA. As we will be doing most of our photography at dawn and dusk, this will allow us to visit Bodie, possibly the best preserved "ghost-town" anywhere.
Our journey south will take us through the barren deserts of Nevada, which offer numerous unique yet under-photographed locations. Our destination will be Zion, one of Utah's most impressive National Park. From there we will head for Page, in Arizona, which offers three further outstanding features, namely Antelope Canyon, Horse Shoe Bend, and of course the impressive red rocks of Lake Powell.
And if that was not enough, we then intend to drop south onto the truly iconic Route 66. This will allow us to investigate many of the small communities that still survive along the "Mother Road", before we leave Arizona and then head north back to Las Vegas. And, if time allows, why not finish with a couple of evening shots of one of the most recognizable cities in the world?
