Martyn Lucas

For over 40 years, Martyn has explored the landscape capturing a diverse portfolio of fine art photography. Originally from England, Martyn settled in the United States in 1980 and his photography career necessitated many pivotal journeys. One such photography encounter was in 1981 when he was invited to attend Ansel Adam’s Yosemite workshop. The experience was profound and he began to compose differently, more precisely, observing composition and light with a visual clarity that is carried through to the final print.

Martyn has spent the last several years traveling to various Polar Regions, as photographic leader, guide and workshop teacher. He takes great pride in bringing a sense of these natural worlds to others who might not have the same opportunity to feel, breathe and experience them; a floating armada of icebergs, carved by wind and sea, a gallery of blue, green and aquamarine sculptures. Recently published articles in Europe and the United States focus on the environment and what is profoundly at stake.

His work is widely exhibited in the United States and recently Europe, and included in private and corporate collections worldwide. With recognition in Landscape Photographer of the Year, Travel Photographer of The Year and Black & White Spider Awards among others.

Martyn is also a certified Mountain Leader and American Red Cross Backcountry First Aid responder.
