The Fine Art Black and White Print

When we think of fine art black and white photography we often think of Ansel Adams or Michael Kenna with their expressive photographs oozing with tonality. There is something timeless about a beautifully made black and white print, and black and white photography has certainly experienced a renaissance over previous years. Virtually all of the photographers we meet have wanted, at some stage, to make great monochrome prints and this is why we have designed this workshop.  There are so many ways to approach black and white that it has almost become confusing wondering where to begin.

In this workshop we break the journey down into individual steps that are easy to follow and they will enable you to transform your black and white prints. This workshop covers the following in detail;

  • Converting colours into subtle greys
  • Managing shadows and highlights
  • Using tone curves
  • Understanding and applying Clarity, Dehaze and Texture
  • Sharpening and Grain
  • Mastering the Adjustment Brush
  • Choosing the right media for the photograph
  • Toning for Black and White
  • Using the Epson Advanced Black and White Driver

Your tutor  will be an expert in this field and will have spent many hours refining their approach and making fine art prints, so you will be in the very best hands during your day with all the advice you need and you will leave with extensive notes from which you can practice your newly acquired skills.

There is a huge difference to printing a colour image in black and white, and dedicating an entire image workflow to making a fine art black and white print. If you want to see your black and white photographs come to life, then this workshop will help enormously.

This workshop is still applicable to you even if you don’t own an Epson printer or send your files out for printing.
