Infrared photography has experienced a renaissance in recent years and has become a popular genre in landscape photography. Infrared photography begins with a camera that has been converted so that it can 'see' and record infrared light. Modern digital cameras have a filter that cuts out infrared light so that we capture all of the colours of the visible spectrum. When a camera is converted for infrared photography, this filter is removed and is replaced with a filter that cuts out most of the visible spectrum, leaving a camera that literally sees what our eyes cannot!
During this one day photography workshop we will show you how to understand what looks good in infrared and what compositions will work effectively. It is often assumed that for infrared photographs to work successfully you must be out in the field on a day when the sun is high in the sky and there are green leaves on the trees. This does make very eye-catching photographs, but less commonly known is how wonderfully infrared works on overcast days and even in the winter where you get a beautiful display of tones.
You will be shown how to expose for infrared and how the camera can perform very effectively often without the need for any filters at all. Infrared is also superb when used for close-up photography and stormy skies on what we would often call a bad day to be out!
This workshop will take you into woodland and you will also work in the open landscape and will receive plenty of hands on, one to one tuition from your leader who is an expert in this type of photography. The day will conclude with an image review where you will share what you have taken and Andy will offer further tips on how to refine what you have learned on the day. Also as part of the image review we will show you the basic techniques of how to convert your infrared camera raw files into great black and white images with that ethereal 'feel'.

Clearly, many people who want to try infrared for the first time many not have a camera that has been converted to infrared. We at aspect2i have a limited number of infrared converted cameras that can be borrowed for this one day photography workshop.
