Kintyre is a 30 mile long tranquil peninsula that runs from Tarbert in the southwest of Argyll and Bute its northerly point down to its most southerly point, the Mull of Kintyre and at no point does it exceed 11 miles across. This is a place that is often overlooked and receives few visitors compared with other areas of Scotland. Kintyre lies on the dramatic Atlantic Seaboard and has a remarkably warm temperature due to its weather systems being fed by the Gulf Stream. Kintyre is one of the hidden gems in the mainland of Scotland and the wildlife, beaches and geology are nothing but outstanding. In terms of photography, this peninsular has a wealth of opportunities that could keep you busy for years. Because if its shape, Kintyre has two very different coastlines. To the west where the sun sets there are sandy beaches with gin clear waters that look out over to the isles of Jura and Islay and the eastern coastline is only accessed by small 'B' roads and is a haven of wonderful rock formations on many rocky bays that look out over the calm water of the Kilbrannan Sound and offer the best views of the Isle of Arran from anywhere in Scotland.
We will visit both the coastlines during our time on Kintyre and explore, Skipness, Claonaig and Grogport along with Ronachan, Chleit and Westport Bay as well as venture into the ancient forests above Carradale and at Kilberry. If you are looking for a workshop that takes you off the beaten track to find images that nobody else will have then this is the workshop that will certainly satisfy. We think this is an amazing place!
You will be spending plenty of time out with your camera where you will get plenty of 1 to 1 tuition with a professional landscape photographer that will include both technical aspects of landscape photography as well as the art of good compositions. During our stay on Kintyre we will dedicate specific time to teaching post-processing skills to enable you to return home with exhibition quality images that are finished and ready to print.
