Steve Carroll, FRPS

Steve first took an interest in photography when joining a photographic club at junior school. During his teens his interest waned but it was re-kindled on finishing university. That interest has been sustained ever since. He was born in Devon but has lived in Kent since the age of ten.

During a career in business he always found time to shoot, develop and print using both mono and colour materials. During those analogue days he used every type of camera from 35mm to 10 x 8 large format. He now revels in the expanded opportunities which digital cameras and processing offer to photographers.

He has photographed just about everything at one time or another but now specialises in landscape and street work. His enthusiasm for those genres now sees him spending about half of each year travelling in the UK and abroad while seeking out images.

Steve’s approach to the photographic process is to keep things as simple as possible all the way from visualisation and capture through post-processing and to the production of the final image. He believes that having the finished product in mind from the very beginning assists in both restricting time spent processing and in producing high quality end product.

Steve has been lecturing and judging at photographic clubs for more than twenty years and is a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society.

You can read an interview with Steve in the Journal 'Expressions' Issue 2 and discover some more of his fabulous landscape and srteet photography.
